*APS Akhnoor adjudged as Best Upcoming team

JAMMU, Sept 28: KK Hockey Club Senior outclassed Royals Hockey Club Senior and won the title trophy of the 1st Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Open Hockey Tournament for women, being played at KK Hakku Hockey stadium, here.
During the match, first goal was scored in 14th minute by Gunjan Preet Kour, Payal increased the lead by scoring goal in 24th minute whereas Chitra in 40th minute of the game scored a goal and further consolidated the lead.
Rajinder Singh Kuku General Secretary Hockey India was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes to winning and running up teams.
He said that Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation has done marvelous job by organizing first ever tournament for women in J&K.
Dr Taran Singh General Secretary Hockey J&K and Raviraj Singh Vice President Hockey J&K were guests of honour, while Chaman Lal Verma Deputy Director Planning Divisional Commissioner Office and Angat Singh were prominent present on the occasion.
Before starting of the match, chief guest, players and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary.
Army Public School Akhnoor was adjudged as Best Upcoming team whereas Sham Lal Sharma Hockey Club Poonch was adjudged as Best Disciplined team of the tournament. Baljit Kour was awarded as Best Coordinator of the tournament.
The umpires of the match were Minakshi Sharma and Anjali Thakur NIS Coach whereas Gurmeet Kour NIS Coach and Kuldip Kour performed duties of the technical officers.
The tournament was organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation under the aegis of Hockey J&K. A total of 12 teams from Jammu, Poonch, Kathua, Udhampur and Akhnoor participated in the tournament.
