JAMMU, June 20: Kanyala Cricket Club (KCC) A smashed Kanyala Cricket Club (KCC) B in the summit clash and lifted the title trophy of the Kanyala Cricket Tournament, organised by Kanyala Cricket Tournament Committee.
Batting first, Kanyal Cricket Club (KCC) A made 167 runs in prescribed 15 overs and while chasing the target, Kanyala Cricket Club (KCC) B was bundled out at paltry 72 runs for all out. Ganesh Sharma was adjudged the Man of the Match who scored 87 runs, while Deepak Sharma was declared as Man of the Series.
On the valedictory function, President, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra and Senior Congress Leader Rakesh Wazir was the chief guest, who presented Rs 11,000 cash prize and coveted trophy to the Captain of the winning team Hitanshu Jamwal in presence of his team mates.
While speaking, Rakesh Wazir said that games are very important for the youth in addition to studies because games keep the people fit and healthy.
He said Government should improve the sports infrastructure in the State and a sports stadium should be made at Kanyala as well so that good quality players may be trained. He further added that every effort should be made to solve the problem of unemployment of youth.
In the month long Kanyala Cricket Tournament, 16 teams from different areas of Jammu region including Udhampur, Dansal, Jandrah, Tikri, Jhajjar Kotli, Kathar and Surinsar participated.
The tournament was organized by Kanyala Cricket Tournament Committee under the overall supervision of Karan Dutt, Shiv Lal Dhingra, Hitanshu Jamwal, Sunil Kumar, Hardev Singh Jamwal, Manjit Kumar, Purshottam Dutt and Romesh Lal.
