JAMMU, May 5: KC Sports Club, Jammu and Principal Accountant General (PAG) XI registered emphatic wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at M A Stadium, here.
The Tournament is being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club, under the supervision of organizing committee comprising of chairman, Raja Vivek; president, Sanjeev Sharma; vice president Neeraj Gupta and general secretary, Shashi Paul, the organizing secretary of the Tournament.
Earlier, in the first match, KC Sports Club defeated Jammu Gymkhana by a narrow margin of 12 runs.
Batting first, KCSC scored a modest total of 118 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Nawaz Rather top scored with 37 runs, while Sahil Lotra and skipper Arjun Choudhary contributed 15 and 14 runs to the total respectively. Akash Choudhary and Sahil bagged 2 wickets for Jammu Gymkhana, while Tribhuvan claimed one.
In reply, Jammu Gymkhana managed to score 106 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, thus lost the match by 12 runs. Nipun Verma, Amar and Sandeep Singh scored 28, 15 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For KC Sports Club, Ramandeep, Abhishek, Vivek and Sahil Lotra took 2 wickets each for KC Sports Club. Sahil Lotra was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, PAG XI drubbed Singh Cricket Club, Akhnoor by 22 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, PAG XI scored a decent total of 161 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Jatin Wadhawan (27), Amit Billowria (26), Hrithik (24*), Bandeep Singh (23), Sahil Bhalwal (22*) and Vimarsh Kaw (17) were the main scorers. For SCC Akhnoor, Sunny took 2 wickets, while Sham Singh and Binny claimed one wicket each.
SCC Akhnoor, while chasing the target managed to score 139 runs in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 22 runs. Sunny, Rahul, Binny and Sandy contributed 38, 37, 19 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For PAG XI, Rahil Singh and Vimarsh Kaw took 2 wickets each, while Ashwani Gupta and Sahil Bhalwal claimed one wicket each. Vimarsh Kaw was adjudged man of the match for his all-round display.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Suhail Yousuf, Sandeep Manchanda, Rajinder Singh and Bunty Kumar.
The winner of the Tournament will get a cash award of Rs 51,000 sponsored by Saraswati Agro Chemical Pvt Ltd, India.
In tomorrow’s fixture, JKP XI will take on Samar Club at 8 am, while RCC Srinagar will face KC Sports Club at 12:30 pm.
