JAMMU, Nov 11: Twelve CBSE affiliated schools of Jammu and adjoining areas took part in the 5th edition of the Inter School Mega Quiz Contest hosted by KC Public School, here today.
The Schools which took part in the quiz included the host school KCPS, KC International, BSF School, KC Gurukul Public School, Heritage School, Jodhamal Public School, APS Kaluchak, Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Banyan International School, APS Akhnoor, APS Nagrota and APS Jammu Cantt.
The contest was held in the multi-purpose hall of KC Sports Club which had been done up to make an apt set for a quiz competition.
Around 300 students of host school formed the responsive audience who cheered the teams with frequent applause.
The Quiz began with an innings round in which all the 12 teams answered 4 questions each as parts of four pools containing three teams each.
At the end of this round, one team from each pool got eliminated on the basis of lowest score. The remaining 8 teams then moved on to the quarterfinal stage with only 2 teams in each pool. After answering 4 questions each at this stage, 4 teams made it to the semifinals on the basis of their higher score.
The race for the final stage turned intense with the degree of difficulty in the questions going several notches higher. Eventually, Heritage School and Presentation Convent made it to the finals.
In a highly charged atmosphere, the finalists vied with each other in getting the right answer and, in the long run, Sajjal Rana and Sparsh Jandial of Heritage school emerged quizzing champions of the 5th Edition of Quiz-Zone 2016.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was former Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami who gave away trophy to the winners and distributed certificates of participation.
In his speech, he commended all the schools for their amazing quizzing skills and congratulated the winners.
