SRINAGAR, June 25: Week-long Water Sports Meet 2014, organized by the J&K State Sports Council concluded at Nehru Park Water Sports Centre, here today.
This mega meet was for the water sports events like Kayaking, Canoeing, Dragon Boat and Canoe Polo, in which 490 participants in both boys, girls, men and women took part in different events.
Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education distributed prizes among the winners, runners-up and technical officials and invitees on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister lauded the efforts of the Secretary Sports Council, Daleep Thussu for organizing the sporting extravaganza and praised the handwork of Bilkees Mir, International player and coach for giving fillip to the sport.
The Championship was sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council.

Dragon Boat 500 Meters Men: Living Kashmir, winners; Admiral Club, runners-up and Mehdi Club, third place.
Dragon Boat 500 Meters Women: Heaven Club, winners, Imamia Public School, runners-up and Javidan Public School, third place
Dragon Boat 200 Meters Men: Imamia Public School, winners; Heaven Club, runner-up and Javidan Public School, third place.

Canoe Polo Men: Living Kashmir, winners; Chinar Club, runners-up.
K2-200 Meters Men: Yaseen and Sameer of Chinar Club, winners; Muneer and Vilayat of Mehdi Club, runners-up and Wahid and Adil of GPM, third place.
C2-200 Meters Men: Waseem Raja and Mubashir of Living Club, winners; Javeed Hussain and Nasir of Mehdi Club, runners-up and Naseer Hussain and Ashiq of Pamposh Club, third.
K1-200 Meters Men: Admiral Club, winners; Living Kashmir Club, runners-up and Mehdi Club, third place.
Surfing: Maria Jan, gold.
Water Skiing: Imtiyaz Ahmad, gold.
K1-200 Meters Girls: Maria Jan of Mehdi Club, winner; Insha Qayoom of GPS, runners-up and Arbeena Jan of GPS, third place.
