JAMMU, Oct 16: Defeating almost equally strong rival Nikhil in a tough contest by (10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-5), Karan won the title trophy in the 1st Table Tennis Tournament at KC Sports Club, here today.
Twenty four players participated in the Tournament in Table Tennis hosted by KC Sports Club in its multi-purpose sports hall.
All the matches were played with extraordinary zeal and turned out to be quite exciting for the participants.
In the semifinals, Nikhil Sharma ousted Tanish Mehta with a slim margin of 12-10, 11-8,while Karan Nanda, on the other hand had an easier job to beat Pranav Sharma by (14-12, 11-4).
Earlier, in the quarter finals, Karan Nanda defeated Anesh Mahajan by 11-3,11-6, Tanish Mehta beat R D Bali by 11-9,8-11,11-7, Nikhil Sharma trounced Tushar Gupta by 11-6,11-7 and Pranav Sharma outplayed Nakul Gupta by 11-4,11-8.
Tanish won the third place defeating Pranav by a convincing margin of (11-5, 12-10).
Vishal Ghai, National Level Table Tennis player was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, who gave away the prizes to the winners and congratulated them for their success.
