AKHNOOR, Jan 4: Sports is an important component for the overall development of youth along with education and that human brain thrives and flourishes in a healthy body said Dr. Mustafa Kamaal, Additional General Secretary National Conference while inaugurating the Sher- i-Kashmir Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament at the Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Eight teams will take part out of which Singh Cricket Club and NCC Akhnoor played the first match today.
Dr Kamaal further said that sports knows no boundaries and is a big unifying force encouraging friendship, peace and goodwill and demolishing barriers of hate and violence.
Dr Gafoor Ahmad, social activist and doctor who is sponsoring and organizing this tourney also spoke on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Gyan Chand, Block president, Babu Ram Bhagat, vice President , Jadgish Sodi, Kuldeep Kour, Madan Lal, Ex Chairman Akhnoor Municipal Committee, Vijay Gupta, Mansoor Hussain, Dr. Faizan Ahmad and Dr Abdul Majid Siraj.
