Kajal wins silver as J&K Taekwondo team returns back

JAMMU, Dec 26: J&K Senior and Junior Taekwondo team reached Jammu after participating in 34th Senior National Taekwondo Championships and 35th Junior National Taekwondo Championships held at JN Stadium, Cuttack in Orissa.
22 J&K players participated in these Championships which included 13 Junior and 9 senior boys and girls.
It is for the first time in the history of J&K Taekwondo that senior girl of the State Kajal won silver medal in girls below-49 kg category and lost her final bout against Uttar Pradesh in a close contest.
She was outstanding in her skill and grit before the finals and won back to back 5 bouts.
She was accorded a warm welcome by the office bearers of J&K Taekwondo Association and was also presented a cash award for her outstanding achievement.
After from Kajal’s silver, 6 players of the State reached the quarterfinals stage but failed to earn medals.
The team participated in the Championships under the supervision of chief coach, Atul Pangotra, International player and coach.
The teams: Junior: Vinit Kumar, Randhir Singh, Lakshit Sarmal, Vishesh Thakur, Danish Manzoor, Sagar Dalal, Mohit Singh, Anish Sharma, Tarun Sharma, Faraz Ashraf, Mansi Dubey, Priya Verma and Vanika.
Rakim Rameez accompanied the team as coach.
Senior: Rohit Sharma, Arvind Kumar Satti, Sunil Vaid, Sourav Sharma, Nitish Anand, Anshul Deshwal, Khalid Mehraj and Narinder Sharma
Burhan-Ud-Din accompanied the team as coach.
