JU’s PG Deptt dominates Inter-Collegiate Women’s Weightlifting C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 9: The PG Department, University of Jammu, emerged as the overall champion in the Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting (Women) Championship 2025–26, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education at the University’s Training Hall. This prestigious tournament promoted fitness, sportsmanship and unity among students from various affiliated colleges. The PG Department secured the overall trophy with 18 points, while GCW Parade was the runner-up with 15 points.
In the 49 Kg category, Kashish Bhagat from GDC Doda won the Gold and Sania Dhiman from GDC Basohli took Silver. Riya Mehra of GCW Parade bagged Gold in the 53 Kg category, with Vanshika Gupta from MIET securing Silver. The 58 Kg category saw a clean sweep by the PG Department, with Priya Devi and Upasana winning Gold and Silver, respectively, while Kajal Devi from GDC Doda earned Bronze. In the 63 Kg category, Sakshi Sharma (PG Deptt. JU) claimed Gold, Mamta Devi (GDC Basohli) won Silver, and Mangla Gouria (GDC Doda) secured Bronze. Arpana Devi (GDC Doda) won Gold in the 69 Kg category, Kaushki Sharma (GCW Parade) in the 77 Kg, and Maseeba Kouser (GCW Parade) in the 86 Kg category. In the +86 Kg, Ekam Kour (PG Deptt. JU) clinched Gold, Palve Pathania (GDC Basohli) Silver and Kritika Padwal (GDC Basohli) Bronze.
The competition was officiated by Ravi Singh, Inderpal Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Dr. Dhanraj Singh Slathia and Jai Bharat.
