JU’s “Display Your Talent” Diksha of GCW wins Western Vocal (Solo) Competition

JAMMU, Oct 12: The competitions in Western Vocal (Solo) and Western Group Singing events were conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, under the “Display Your Talent” 2013-14 here at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
In Western Vocal (Solo), Diksha Kumari from Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, clinched the First Prize whereas Apoorva Jamwal from the Department of Economics and Ahtzaz from The Law School, University of Jammu had to settle for Second and Third Prize, respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Marina Anthony from GCW Parade, Shayaan Bhat from MAM College Jammu and Sachin Raina from GDC (Boys), Udhampur.
In Western Group Song, the team from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, bagged the First Prize whereas the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and GCW Parade, Jammu clinched the Second and Third Team Prize, respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to PG Integrated, University of Jammu, MAM College, Jammu and Depar-tment of English, University of Jammu.
The every good presentation by the young participants, received thunderous applause from the audience. The notes of Synthesizer, Electric and Hollow Guitars as well as beats of the Drum Sets made the students to dance to the Rhythm and Tunes.
S Jagdeep Singh, Rajesh Jamwal and Goutam Kotwal were adjudicators of the event.
Prof Neeru Sharma was the chief guest for today’s events and distributed the prizes among the winners in presence of Prof Yashpal Sharma, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee.
Dr Seema Sharma, The Law School was the Teacher Incharge of the event.
The programme was compeered by Padmini, The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
The events were managed by Kulbushan Thakur, Balwant Singh Slathia, Surinder Singh Bhalla, Joginder Singh, Arun Kumar, Ram Paul, Yash Pal and R P Singh.
