JU’s Display Your Talent concludes

JAMMU, Sept 28: ‘Display Your Talent-2015’ organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at University of Jammu.
Prof Pradeep K Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology was the chief guest and Prof. R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function.
In his address, Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma shared “awards and rewards are not what you get on stage, but is the feedback what you get from the audience”. He stressed that the formal education is not enough for the overall personality development of the students in present day scenario thus co-curricular activities are equally important.
Prof. R.D. Sharma in his presidential address complemented D.S.W. office for reducing the time period of Display Your Talent without compromising on quality. He stressed on channelizing of the energies of the youth in the right and progressive direction so that they become assets not just for themselves but for the society as whole.
Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, formally welcomed the august gathering and requested the colleges and departments to send participants after proper screening.  While Prof. K.K. Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee presented the report on Display Your Talent-2015.
Overall Champion Trophy was won by GCW, Gandhi Nagar, while runners-up Trophy was won by Institute of Music and Fine Arts. Over All Trophy for Best Student was awarded to Sonali Dogra from GCW, Parade. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Theatricals was awarded to PG Integrated Team, University of Jammu. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Fine Arts was awarded to Mehak from Govt. MAM College. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Music was awarded to GCW, Gandhi Nagar. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Debate was awarded to GCW, Gandhi Nagar. Over All Trophy for Best performance in Quiz was awarded to Model Institute of Engineering & Technology.
Earlier in the morning, the event of Folk Dance was conducted in which team of GCW, Parade stood First, GDC Samba stood Second and the Third position was shared by GDC, Ram Nagar and The Law School, JU. Certificate of Merit was awarded to GCW, Gandhi Nagar team. Dr. Suvidha Khanna was the teacher in-charge of the event.
The results of Short Story Writing and Essay Writing competition conducted during Display Your Talent-2015 organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu are; In Short Story Writing, the stories by Tazeem Akhter of Department of Economics, University of Jammu, Mir Aquib Yusuf from GCET and Sahil Singh Chib from GDC, Akhnoor were evaluated as Best Short Stories.
In Essay Writing Competition, Aayushi Grover from Department of Psychology, University of Jammu stood First, Sushant Sharma from Govt. PG College Rajouri stood Second and the Third Position was shared by Sugandhi from GCW, Udhampur and Mohd. Taj from Department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
Prof. Alka Sharma, Co-Chairperson, Campus Culture Committee presented the formal vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer). Members of Campus Culture Committee and Students Culture Council, University of Jammu were present at the occasion.
