JAMMU, June 3: Fencers of the Jammu University (JU) won three team bronze medals in 3rd Khelo-India University Games-2022 (KIUG) in men’s epee team, men’s sabre team and women’s sabre team held at Lucknow. The event was held between May 25 to June 3.
The men’s epee team of University of Jammu comprised of Parvinder Sharma, Shivansh Kapoor, Gourav Thakur and Harsh Singh beat University of Mumbai team while men’s sabre team included Udhayveer Singh, Suryansh Sharma, Ajay Singh and Harsh Anand beat University of Delhi and won bronze medals for the University of Jammu. The third bronze winner team was women’s sabre included Mokshika Rana, Simran Rajput, Palak Bharti and Mansi Sapolia defeated Kurukshetra University team and won bronze medal for the University of Jammu.
The teams were accompanied by Padam Dev Singh as team manager where as Ajay Kumar and Ranchan Sabharwal as coaches.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Jammu appreciated the fencing teams who won medals for the University. He also applauded efforts of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba and entire staff of the Directorate for this achievement at 3rd Khelo India University Games.
Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu also lauded the fencers and supporting staff.
