JAMMU, June 16: Jammu University Employees team defeated Media XI by 4 wickets in a friendly match at Varsity ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first Media XI scored a modest total of 113 runs in the allotted overs. Rohit, Rahul and Amit contributed 24, 22 and 16 runs to the total respectively. From Jammu University, Balwant Singh was the wrecker-in-chief, who bagged 5 important wickets, while skipper Rajesh Salhotra, Avtar, Gurpal and Sandeep shared 1 wicket apiece.
In reply, riding on a brilliant innings of 48 runs by Rajesh Salhotra, Jammu University team chased the target by losing 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets. Vishal Sudan also contributed valuable 21 runs, while Shammi Bhagat chipped in with 16 runs.
JU team manager Pawan Singh Bhau, while lauding the efforts of the team for this big win, also informed that the win was JU’s 14th consecutive win under Salhotra’s captaincy.
