JAMMU, Sept 18: Josh CC Bantalab trounced Makhyalen CC by 5 wickets and lifted the title trophy of the Sohan Memorial Cricket Tournament, played at village Laddoor in Panchayat Falora Nagbani, here today.
After winning the toss Makhyalen CC elected to bat first and made 45 runs in 10 overs, which was easily chased by Josh CC. It is pertinent to mention here that 16 cricket teams of different Cricket Clubs took part in the tournament.
Prizes were distributed by Ch Sukhnandan Kumar, former Minister & Chairman Panchayati Raj Cell BJP J&K who was the chief guest on the occasion. Prize of Rs12000 and a trophy was given to the winning team, whereas Rs 6000 and trophy was given to the runner up team by the chief guest.
The former Minister gave an amount of Rs 5100 for organising the tournament and lauded the organisers of the event for organising such sports events and hope they will organise such tournaments in the future also.
While addressing the gathering, the former Minister impressed upon the youths to participate in sports activities which are important for physical as well as mental development.
District president BJYM Jammu Gramin Deepak Panday, BJYM Marh Mandal president Parshotam Sharma, former Sarpanch Surinder Sharma and many others were present during the event.
