JAMMU, Aug 13: In a remarkable display of skill, strategy and sportsmanship, Under-17 girls’ basketball team from Jodhamal Public School clinched the bronze medal at the prestigious CBSE Cluster XVII Basketball Tournament (2025-26). The event, held at BCM School, Ludhiana, saw fierce competition among 18 top-tier schools from Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.
The Jodhamal girls began their campaign with a commanding 19-7 victory over Lauren’s International School, Batala, setting the tone for their tournament run. They followed up with a clinical performance in the quarter-finals, defeating DCM Presidency School, Ludhiana, by a wide 29-9 margin, thereby securing their place in the semi-finals.
In a tense and hard-fought semi-final match against Spring Dale Public School, Amritsar, the team exhibited commendable resilience and tactical acumen. Though narrowly missing a spot in the finals, the Jodhamal girls emerged with a well-deserved bronze, marking a proud moment for the school and its growing legacy in sports.
The medal-winning squad featured standout players: Namah Gupta, Aarika Singh, Samayra Kohli, Amsah Shahzad, Mrinal Singh, Vanya Kour, Arunima Singh, Aarya Sharma and Guneet Kour. Their success was made possible under the expert guidance of coaches Vinod Dogra and Manvinder Kour, whose mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s performance.
Principal Dr. Deep Khare lauded the achievement, saying, “This remarkable victory is a vivid illustration of our students’ talent and dedication. It underscores our commitment to fostering holistic development and excellence, both within the classroom and on the sports arena.”
