JAMMU, Aug 10: In a vibrant display of patriotism, civic sense and fitness, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organised Swachh Jammu Run 2025 today as part of the celebrations leading up to the 79th Independence Day. The event also aimed to continue the spirit of cleanliness following the successful conclusion of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.
The run was ceremonially flagged off from Bahu Plaza by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, who was joined by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sher Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu and other senior officers from civil and police administration.
The marathon featured two categories – a 10 km and a 5 km run – traversing major city locations such as Railway Station, Panama Chowk, University Road, Gujjar Nagar, Hari Singh Park and Jewel Chowk, before culminating back at Bahu Plaza.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 2,000 citizens including students, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, children and a significant number of women, all rallying under the theme Clean Jammu, Healthy Jammu. The event was also part of the Fit India Challenge, highlighting the dual goals of public health and environmental responsibility.
In the 5 km race, Ek Love won first place, followed by Kanish in second and Hardeep in third. In the 10 km category, Raghav secured first place, with Surendra Kanhaiya and Sunil Kumar claiming second and third spots respectively. Winners were honoured with medals, certificates, and mementoes.
The Div Com described the run as a powerful message of collective responsibility, tied with the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. Dr. Devansh Yadav commended participants and urged citizens to strive for a cleaner, greener Jammu.
