J&K’s tennis players Sumitpal, Prinkle sail to second round

JAMMU, May 13: J&K’s tennis players Sumitpal Singh and Prinkle Singh again proved their mantle and sailed into 2nd rounds of All India Tennis Association Open Ranking National Series Tournaments being held at Prec Tennis Academy, Mumbai.
Sumitpal Singh defeated Sagar Bains of Chandigarh by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 6-3 and 6-0. He was crowned 4th seed in under 14 national series tournament.
On the other hand, Prinkle Singh was in main draw in under 14 and in under 16 Prinkle Singh enter main draw by winning two rounds of qualifying rounds.
In qualifying rounds, Prinkle Singh defeated Rachna Reddy of Andhra Pradesh by 9-2 score and in final round defeated Prachi Nadu of Andhra Pradesh by straight 2-0 sets (6-1 and 6-1).
In main draw first round Prinkle Singh defeated Sheikh Humera of Andhra Pradesh in three set match. Prinkle took first set by 6 -0 score, but faced defeat in the second set by 5 – 7 score. In the decider round, Prinkle registered win via tie breaker and the score remained 7-5.
In under 16, Prinkle Singh proved worth by thrashing Harsha Sai Challa of Andhra Pradesh. In the first set, Prinkle faced defeat, but bounced back in the next two games and emerged winner.
Prinkle Singh after winning her matches continuously, will now lock horns with Indian Junior Davis Cup player Mihika Yadav of Maharashtra in under 16 category.
