J&K’s Bilquis named chairman of Canoe Slalom

JAMMU, Apr 5: International player and National coach, Bilquis Mir of Jammu and Kashmir, has been nominated as chairman of Canoe Slalom all over India for the year 2016-18 by Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
Apart from Bilquis, DS Chauhan from Rajasthan, Yogender Rathore from Indore, R Meiyappam from Tamil Nadu, Manoj Rawat from UKD, MS Tomar from Madhya Pradesh, t Shiva Reddy from Andhra Pradesh and Mayank Thakur from Madhya Pradesh have been nominated as chairmen of Dragon Boat, Canoe Polo, Sea Kayak, White Water & Free Style, Canoe Sprint, Canoe Marathon and Para Canoe respectively.
Bilquis and other nominated chairmen will have to arrange the coaching camps, selection of teams, coaches and technical officials, besides raising infrastructure, sponsorships, advertisements and funds to promote this sport in all parts of the country, under the guidance of president and general secretary of Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bilquis had kept the State’s Flag high, many a time, at the national and international scene.
