JKRDS organizes Parents Day

SRINAGAR, July 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Society (JKRDS) today organized a Parents Day and presentation of Madr-e-Meharban Awards 2013, here today.
Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul, who is also Chairman of JKRDS, MLA, Hazratbal Dr Mustafa Kamal, Principal Dental College, delegates of JKRDS, scholars, NGOs, Parents, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
A debate on “the role of society in the maintenance of environment” was held on the occasion in which hundreds of students from different schools participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the speaker Mr Gul said that Madr-e-Meharban Late Begum Akbar Jehan always worked for upliftment of women, orphans and weaker section of the society.
He announced that Madr-e-Meharban Award 2013 will be given to Parvez Rasool, national Cricket player from J&K, Mohammad Rafiq Malik, Mountaineer and Neha Sharma, Dental surgeon who topped this year’s KAS examination.
Highlighting the achievements of the Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,  Gul said that RTI, Public Grievances Cell, Public Services Guarantee Act and Vigilance Commission have been introduced with the aim to ensure transparency and accountability besides providing good governance to the people of the State.
MLA, Hazratbal Dr Mustafa Kamal described Madr-e-Meharban as epitome of courage and compassion. He said he saw her always praying for the betterment and welfare of the people and prosperity of the State. He said that Madr-e-Meharban was noble and a righteous woman.
Later, prizes were distributed among the students who participated in the debate competition.
On the occasion, special prayers were held and rich tributes were paid to Madr-e-Meharban.
