SRINAGAR, Oct 25: J&K Police XI defeated Food & Supplies (F&S) XI by two goals to nil (2-0) in the Premier Division match of the ongoing State Football League-2017 at Synthetic Turf TRC, here.
In the closely contested match, bit the teams missed several scoring opportunities. However, as compared to F&S team, the Police XI made lesser mistakes and were the eventual winners. The winning team opened their account in just 5th minute of the play through Sandeep Sharma. F&S XI tried their best to score an equaliser, but failed to convert the scoring oppurtunities into goals. The first half ended with Police XI leading 1-0.
In the second half, F&S XI looked desprate to score an equalizer and came closer several times only to fail at the final moment. However, Pradeem Sharma doubled the lead for Police XI in 64th minute of the play, thus closed chances of comeback in the match for F&S team. When the referee blew the final whistle the score line read 2-0 in favour of Police XI. Faisal Ahmad of JKP XI was declared as the player of the match.
Meanwhile, the State Football League, a mega event first of its kind in the history of J&K football, is going on at different venues of the state with full swing drawing huge crowds to the football venues. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.
The event is being held across the 22 districts of the state these days and is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
