JKP wrestler wins 32nd Korga Bhatyari Dangal title

JAMMU, July 8: J&K Police wrestler and World Police Champion Benia Min from Basantgarh, Udhampur, emerged victorious at the 32nd Korga Bhatyari (Jindrah) Dangal, defeating Mani of Maharashtra’s Alamgir Akhara in a fiercely contested final bout. The malli bout lasted 8 minutes and drew massive cheers from spectators. Benia was awarded a cash prize of Rs 61,000, while runner-up Mani received Rs 50,000.
The traditional Kanta Kushti Dangal was organized by the Korga Dangal Committee in collaboration with the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, guided by Sat Paul Verma and Capt. Jagdish Singh (Retd.). Verma also contributed Rs 31,000 towards the event.
BJP leader Nand Kishore Sharma, District Jammu President, was the chief guest who distributed cash prizes totalling Rs 3.5 lakh. The event was presided over by Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of the Wrestling Association.
In other major bouts, Sippa of Raiwala defeated Muneer of J&K Police, while Subham of Punjab beat Surjit, also from J&K Police. A bout between Rashid (Domana Akhara) and Rahul (Rohtak) ended in a draw. The event featured 46 bouts in total and witnessed enthusiastic participation from across northern India.
