‘Sarbat Da Bhalaa’ Hockey Tournament

JAMMU, Oct 20: Sikh Progressive Front organised ‘Sarbat Da Bhalaa’ Hockey Tournament dedicated to the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Devj Ji, at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
The tournament which began today, will be played on knock out basis and will conclude on October 26, 2019.
The inaugural match was played between J&K Police Hockey team and Jammu Legend. J&K Polce Hockey team won this match by seven two. Bharat Sharma of Police team was declared as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Karanjit Singh, S Dalvinder Singh, JS Reem, S Iqbal Singh and Dalbir Mehta. Satvir Singh IAF Coach is the tournament Director.
Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu was the chief guest who declared open the tournament, who while inaugurating the tournament appreciated the organisers for having organised such a mega sports event in Jammu.
The teams participating from out side the State will be an inspiration for the budding youths of the State especially young players.
While welcoming the chief guest, S. Manjit Singh, Organising Secretary gave the brief account of the participating teams from outside the State besides local teams which will be playing in the next six days.
S. Balvinedr Singh, President Sikh Progressive Front in his address said that different types of programmes are being organised throughout the world to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Nanak Dev Ji.
“Our organization decided to organised this mega event to spread the message of humanity and universal brotherhood and to promote Hockey in J&K” he said.
He also presented vote of thanks.
In tomorrow’s fixture, the first match will be played between Hiranagar Hockey Club and GNN Club at 12 noon, while the second match will be played between Gurdaspur XI and Khadur Sahib XI at 1.30 pm and the third match will be played between Punjab Electricity Board and Pathankot Club at 3 pm.
