JKOA prez calls on Union Sports Minister

JAMMU, Sept 21: President of J&K Olympic Association and Associate vice president Indian Olympic Association, Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma today met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur at New Delhi.
During interaction with the Union Minister, Prof Sharma discussed the sports scenario in J&K and informed him about steps to be taken for promotion and development of games and sports in the Union Territory in particular and country in general. He also requested the Minister for a virtual meeting with National Federations and State/UT Olympic Associations.
Prof. Sharma stressed upon the need of granting affiliation to only those State/UT Sports Associations by the Federations which are affiliated to the State/UT Olympic Associations which should be mandatory.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by Prof Sharma and assured him of looking into the genuine demands of J&K Olympic Association.
