SRINAGAR, July 27: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) has shown resentment rather has expressed shock over the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to wind up its football team.
President JKFA, Zamir Thakur in a statement issued today said that after demonetization in November 2016, the Bank had asked its players to report to their respective branches and stop daily practice and participation in football events. Even the players were not spared for participation in national events.
Mr Thakur further said that after his meeting with the Chairman J&K Bank, he was told that the players could be spared for practice and matches only after March 2017, adding that even after March have not been allowed to participate in the football activities going on across the State.
“The Bank team hasn’t renewed its annual registration with JKFA till date, which is mandatory for every team and club. It shows that the Bank management has decided to wind up its team,” he said.
The JKFA president appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu to personally look into the matter so that a football team of J&K Bank could be saved.
