JAMMU, June 19: Scripting a resounding win by 6 wickets against a formidable side of JKCA Reds in the semifinal clash today, the JKCA Rising Stars qualified for the finals of the Under-16 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at GGM Science College ground, here.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA Reds scored a modest total of 151 runs in 34 overs. Virtul Bakshi top scored with 26 runs off 42 balls, while Raman Deep and Hitesh contributed 22 runs each to the total. Abhishank also chipped in 15 runs. At one stage, the JKCA Reds team was struggling at 75 for the loss of 8 wickets, but a good show by tail-enders Raman Deep and Hitesh helped them to reach a fighting total of 151 runs. Tushar Anthral was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 5 important wickets in his 7 overs by conceding 18 runs, while Rahul Sagotra bagged 2 wickets in his 6 overs, giving away 25 runs. Ashish, Sahil Mahotra and Sahil Lotra also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Rising Stars chased the required target in 36.3 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Sahil Lotra and Sahil Mahotra played superbly and smashed 54 and 45 runs respectively. Lotra scored unbeaten 54 runs in 83 balls with the help of 3 boundaries, while Mahotra contributed 45 off 74 balls, which included 5 fours. Vivrant Sharma also contributed 15 runs off 18 balls with 2 boundaries. For JKCA Reds, Hitesh took 2 wickets, while Raman Deep and Virtul Bakshi claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Rajeev Sharma and Ajit Kumar as umpires, while Gourav Jamwal maintained the scorebook.
