JAMMU, Feb 10: JKCA Greens outplayed JKCA Reds by 5 wickets in the ongoing selection trial matches to pick the J&K team for Vijay Hazare One-Day Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Batting first, JKCA Reds scored 243 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. Nadeem Dar was top scorer with 72 runs off 77 balls, studded with 5 fours and 1 six, while Huwaid Ronga contributed 63 off 90 balls with the help of 6 boundaries and 1 maximum. Zahoor Sofi also chipped in with 25 runs, studded with 3 fours. For Greens, Asif Rasool was the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 3 important wickets by conceding 21 runs in his 7 overs, while Sameer Ali, Sameer Khajuria and Deepak Singh Manhas took 2 wickets each.
In reply, riding on splendid half-centuries by Fayaz Hazare and Pranav Gupta, JKCA Greens scored the required runs in 49 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Hazare scored 68 runs with the help of 8 crispy boundaries, while Pranav contributed 55 runs with 11 delectable boundaries. Obaid Haroon and Aditya Pratap Singh remained unbeaten on 46 and 12 runs respectively. For Reds, Waseem Raza and Zahoor Sofi claimed 2 wickets each, while Umar Nazir took one wicket.
The match was officiated by BCCI Level-1 umpires Amit Gupta and Harbinder Singh as umpires, while Ashwani Kumar was the scorer.
