JAMMU, Feb 10: The Jammu and Kashmir team entered finals of the sabre event in the ongoing 5-day long 23rd Senior National Fencing Championship at Rohtak in Haryana, today.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir defeated Uttar Pradesh by (15-6) in the first match, while in the second match, J&K trounced West Bengal (15-10). J&K drubbed Chhattisgarh by (45-31) in the quarterfinals, while in the semifinals, J&K got better of formidable Punjab by (45-41) in a close contest. For J&K, International fencer Rashid Ahmed, Vishal Thappar, Pardeep Kumar and Ajay Khatrol displayed superb fencing skill to help their team reach the finals.
J&K will lock horns with Services in the summit clash tomorrow.
The team is being accompanied by Chotu Lal Sharma as coach.
