JAMMU, Jan 3: Jammu and Kashmir scripted a thrilling victory by a narrow margin of three runs against formidable Andhra Pradesh in 64th national school games U-17 boys cricket championship at Gurukul Cricket Ground Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Earlier put into bat Jammu and Kashmir managed to score 96 runs in the stipulated 15 overs. Yuvraj Sani was the top scorer with 38 runs, while Rohan Gill and Guratej contributed 15 runs each. From Andhra Pradesh Mahandeep, Likith and Raj Kumar scalped 2 wickets each.
In reply, A P managed to score 93 runs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match in an exciting contest by 3 runs. Likith top score with 42 runs, while Shiva and Dinesh contributed 10 runs each. From J&K Irshad took 2 wickets while Qulaib and Abhay Tandon bagged 2 wickets each. Adit Pal claimed 1 wicket, while skipper Praful Dhar was the most economic bowler considering just 10 runs in his 3 overs.
J&K team is being accompanied by Madhan Mohan and Mohd Imran as Manager and Coach respectively. Director journal Youth Services and Sports, Saleem-Ur-Rahman has congratulated the team for this thrilling victory.
