JAMMU, Jan 3: Riding on splendid tons by Shubham Singh Pundir(119) and Paras Sharma (106), coupled with brilliant blowing display by Abid Mushtaq and Jahid Nazir and Sahil Lotra, Jammu and Kashmir trashed Chhattisgarh by an innings and 93 runs in the C K Nayudu under 23 boys cricket tournament at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today.
Earlier on Day 1 batting first, Chhattisgarh bundled out for paltry 120 runs. MSS Hussain top scored with 39 runs while Shubham Singh contributed 27 runs to the total. TragJahid Nazir was the pick of the bowlers for J&K, taking 4 important wickets, while Auqib Nabi and Abid Mushtaq bagged 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
J&K, in their first essay scored a decent total of 338 runs thus gaining a vital first inning’s lead of 218 runs. Shubham Singh Pundir and Paras Sharma slammed brilliant centuries, scoring 119 and 106 runs respectively. Sahil Lotra and Abid Mushtaq contributed 27 and 16 runs respectively. From Chhattisgarh Gagan Deep Singh took 5 important wickets, while A.S Saxena claimed 2 wickets.
Conceding a huge lead of 218 runs to Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh once again bundled out for a meagre total of 125 runs, thus lost the match by an innings and 93 runs. P.M Yadav and Sandhya Hurket contributed 35 and 31 runs respectively. For J&K Abid Mushtaq was the wrecker-in-chief who took 6 wickets by conceding 38 runs in his 20 overs. While Sahil Lotra bagged 4 wickets by giving away 22 runs in his 10 overs.
