JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammu & Kashmir’s U-16 cricket team delivered a spectacular performance, demolishing Mizoram by an innings and 275 runs at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat to storm into the Vijay Merchant Trophy finals.
Resuming from 264/4, J&K captain Smagey Khajuria anchored a marathon century, scoring 100 off 213 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, before declaring at 390/9, establishing a massive first-innings lead of 353. Jaskaran Singh remained unbeaten on 53, while Adnan Manzoor smashed 73 off 71 balls. Contributions from Karman Singh (47) and Arsalan Niyak (42) further strengthened the total.
J&K’s bowlers then ran through Mizoram’s second innings for just 68, with Sanil Singh claiming 5/14 and Jaskaran Singh 3/24. In Mizoram’s first innings, Rajveer Singh took 5/18 as J&K bowled them out for 47. This marks J&K’s third consecutive innings victory, showcasing the team’s growing dominance.
