SRINAGAR, Dec 27: Jammu & Kashmir is hosting the 7th edition of Icestock Championship 2020-21for all age group categories including male and female and men and women from January 28 to 31 at Ice Rink Gulmarg, here tomorrow.
The championship will be held under the aegis of Indian Icestock Federation in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department and Gulmarg Development Authority.
During the championship events including singles, doubles, mix doubles and long distance will be played.
“We have received the entries from 20 different States across the country in which nearly 250 participants both boys and girls are participating by following all SOPs issued by Ministry of Sports, Govt of India recently,” said organisers of the event.
The championship will be organised for the selection of the State teams for the 2nd edition of ‘Khelo India National Winter Games 2021’ which is scheduled to be held at Gulmarg in second week of February 2021.
“This championship will also help us to shortlist the probable for the forthcoming European Championships as well as World Icestock Championship for both senior men and women and junior boys and girls,” they added, adding that the championship will also provide a platform to select India team for world levels championships including Winter Olympic Games 2026 which is scheduled to be held at Italy.
