J&K storms into last 8 stage as QFs lineup drawn

64th National School Games U-19 Boys Cricket Tourney

JAMMU, Dec 23: Defeating Uttarakhand by a narrow margin of 15 runs in the pre-quarterfinals, Jammu and Kashmir has made it to the last eight stage of the ongoing 64th National School Games Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, its Director General at various venues here.
The Tournament is being held under the auspices of School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
The other teams which have qualified for the quarterfinals included Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab.
Now, in quarterfinals, Jammu and Kashmir will take on Madhya Pradesh at Jammu University ground, Delhi will face Chandigarh at KC Sports Club ground, Uttar Pradesh will lock horns with Chhattisgarh at Parade Ground and Haryana will meet Punjab at University of Jammu ground.
Earlier, J&K defeated Uttarakhand by 15 runs in a low scoring match.
Batting first, J&K scored 86 runs in the stipulated 15 overs. Kartik was the top scorer with 23 runs. For Uttarakhand, Sachin and Imran Ali took 3 wickets each.
In reply, Uttarakhand managed to score 70 runs in 15 overs to lose the match by 15 runs. Adnan was the only batsman to cross double figure mark, scoring 13 runs. For J&K, Younis took 3 wickets.
In other matches of the day, Delhi beat Telangana by 10 wickets, Chandigarh defeated Maharashtra by 9 wickets, Uttar Pradesh drubbed IPSC by 7 wickets, Chhattisgarh trounced NVS by 5 wickets, Haryana got the better of Rajasthan by 5 wickets, Madhya Pradesh defeated West Bengal by 10 wickets and Punjab thrashed CBSE by 68 runs.
