JK Sports Club beat Deshmesh Club by 3-2 in opening tie

JAMMU, Nov 17: JK Sports Club defeated Deshmesh Club Nanak Nagar in a close contest by three goals to two (3-2) on the opening day of the 5th Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organised by Kashmir Sikh Sangat under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
From JK Sports Club, all the three goals were scored by Suraj in 15th, 36th and 38th minutes respectively.
From Deshmesh Club, both the goals were scored by Suryaveer Singh.
Kanta Andotra, President Hockey J&K was the chief guest, while Gurcharn Singh, retired Judge and Harbhajan Singh, retired S.E were the guests of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajinder Singh, Secretary General, Hockey India; Tajinder Singh, President Kashmir Sikh Sangat and Karamjeet Singh, General Secretary KSS and Organising Secretary of the event.
The officials of the event included Harmanan Singh, Manish Kumar,
Anjali Thakur and GS Bakshi, Tournament Director.
