JAMMU, June 4: Seven Gymnasts of Jammu and Kashmir including one senior and six junior girls have been selected for the participation in the upcoming Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, scheduled to be held at Pattaya in Thailand from June 23 to 26.
These gymnasts were selected during the national selection trials to select Indian Senior and Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics team for the upcoming championship which was held under the supervision of Kiran Wattal, vice president of Gymnastics Federation of India along with Arjuna Awardee Madam Kalpana Debnath, Arjuna Awardee, Krupali Patel Singh and Varsha Upadhye, besides 12 internationally qualified judges from the different States/UTs were also present during the trials.
A total of 142 gymnasts from all over the country participated in the selection trials.
In individual event of senior category, Bavleen Kaur from J&K, Sanyukta and Ananya Soman from Maharashtra were selected, whereas in group event team, six gymnasts including Vaibhavi Bapat, Janhavi, Sanya, Soumya, Mihika and Shrushti Patel were selected.
In junior individual category, Muskan Rana from J&K, Upasha from Assam, Kimaya from Maharashtra and Parina from Maharashtra are selected, whereas Muskan Rana, Manya, Himani, Vaibhavi, Shivangi and Jagriti were selected for group event of junior’s category.
The selection trials were conducted at Gymnastic Academy of J&K, MA Stadium Jammu.
