J&K set to host Gymnastics C’ship on Nov 22

JAMMU, Nov 19: Gymnastic Association of J&K (GAJK) in collaboration with J&K Sports Council is going to organise 56th Junior National Artistic and 25th Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship first time ever in Jammu and Kashmir at MA Stadium, here from November 22 to 26.
The Association will also conduct National trials for 4th edition of Khelo India Youth Games-2022 under the aegis of Gymnastics Federation of India and J&K Olympic Association (JKOA).
It was disclosed by chief patron of GAJK and JMC Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta during a press conference in presence of JKOA president, Ashutosh Sharma, Dushyant Sharma, general secretary and president GAJK, Er Kiran Wattal and others.
“J&K has been fortunate enough to get a chance to organise the Junior National Championships of Gymnastics at Jammu for the first time. It has been a team work of GAJK, GFI and J&K Sports Council,” said patron of the Association, adding that many international players, national medallists have confirmed to compete in this championships and we have received confirmation of around 600 players, coaches & managers from all States and UT’s of the country so far.
Around 100 technical officials, 60 representatives from Gymnastic Associations from the whole country shall also be taking part in this prestigious championship, Mayor said.
“The organizing committee of the championships is also pleased to nominate Dr Gurdial Singh Bawa as Competition Director (Artistic Gymnastics), Krupali Singh (Arjuna Awardee) as Competition Director (Rhythmic Gymnastics) who will also be responsible for the technical conduct of the championship,” he revealed.
They also complimented LG Manoj Sinah and Advisor Farooq Khan and Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull for facility up-gradation.
