JAMMU, Mar 26: J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides 3-day Training Camp concluded at Lawrence Public School, here.
A large number of students from Panjtirthi and Sidhra branches of Lawrence Public School participated in this Camp.
During the training camp, 9 modules were covered under the guidance of Sheikh Yaseen, State Training Commissioner LoC; MM Sharma, Assistant State Commissioner; Sardar Harcharan Singh, Scouts Trainer; Manjeet Kaur, Assistant Training Commissioner; KL Sharma, HQ Commissioner Guide.
The modules included Pioneering, Compass, Cooking, Fire, Estimation, Camp Craft, First Aid & Good Behaviour.
Students were taught how to tie knots & lashing, pitching tents, finding directions in outdoor camps and jungle using compass, how to prepare food without utensils & fire, how to light fire and how to extinguish it, how to estimate depth of streams, width of rivers, height of mountains and buildings, depth of ditches.
Besides this students were taught how to tie bandage using available resources & making stretcher with the help of clothes, belts etc.
The Chief Guest on this occasion was ID Soni, State Commissioner, J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides, while the Guest of Honour was Sakina Banu, Senior Advisor J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides. Wg Cdr MM Joshi, State Commissioner PR J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides was the Special Guest.
Mr Soni in his address laid stress on the importance of non formal education in student life.
He congratulated the students on the completion of the course and appreciated the efforts of Jyoti Verma, Rajni Jagpal and Aparna Gupta for encouraging the students.
