J&K Ranji team earns 3 points against formidable Rajasthan

JAMMU, Oct 10: J&K Ranji trophy team began the season 2017-18 in style as they earned crucial three points, scripting a win over formidable Rajasthan by virtue of the first innings lead in the Ranji Trophy Group B match at Savoy Mann Singh Stadium, Jaipur.
Earlier, J&K skipper Pervaz Rasool won the toss and elected to field first. Put into bat, Rajasthan ended day one at 250 for 4 with the help of middle order batsman Robin Bist, who made century (113) runs. However, J&K bowlers Mohammad Mudasar, Pervaz Rasool and Sami Ullah Beigh wrecked havoc on day 2, restricting Rajasthan to a total of 330 runs in the first innings, adding just 80 runs to their overnight score.
From J&K, Mudasar took 5-wickets haul while Rasool bagged 3 wickets and Nadeem Beigh claimed 2 wickets.
From Rajasthan, apart from Robin Bist’s ton, Ashok Minaria(69) and Amit Gautam (51) were the main contributors.
In reply, J&K openers Ahmed Banday and Shubham Khajuria gave a solid foundation to their team making an opening partnership of 109 runs before Shubham was dismissed at his individual score of 53 runs. Pranav Gupta joined Ahmed in the middle and made a partnership of another 100 runs. All three batsmen were in sublime touch, hitting the ball with fluid, grace and utter brilliance. After the fall of these 2 wickets, it was Ian Dev Singh and Pervaz Rasool who helped the team to score a decent total of 432 runs thus gaining the first innings lead. Pervaz made masterful 97 runs and Ian scored magnificent 79 runs. Aditiya Pratap Singh also contributed valuable 32 runs.
For Rajasthan, Khalil Ahmed and Tanver-ul-Haq claimed 3 wickets each, while Pankaj Singh and Aniket Choudhary scalped 1 wicket each.
In the second essay, Rajasthan sailed on Bisnoi’s splendid 100 ended the day at 264 for 4, thus match ended in a draw and J&K earned 3 points. From J&K, Mohammad Mudasar claimed 1 wicket. For his superb bowling display, Mudasar was declared as man of the match.
