JAMMU, Jan 23: Jammu and Kashmir Power Lifting teams excelled by winning medals at International and National Championships.
The teams won medals in Asian Classic Power Lifting Championship, National Bench Press Championship and North India Power Lifting Championships.
Vickramjeet Singh and Sapna Jain brought laurels to the Union Territory by winning bronze medal in Asian Classic Power Lifting Championship held at Kazakhstan, Satyajeet Singh won best lifter award in National Bench Press Championship while J&K Power Lifting team won overall trophy in men’s category and runners-up in women’s category.
The J&K team also won runners-up trophy in men’s category in North India Championship.
The team won 9 Gold, 5 Silver and 7 Bronze medals in National Bench Press Championship held at New Delhi while the J&K team won 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in North India Power Lifting held at Bhiwani Haryana.
The team was welcomed by Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Ravi Singh Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, besides office bearers of the Association.
On the occasion, Secretary Sports Council lauded the efforts of the Power Lifting players for this achievement, besides assuring support.
Gold medal winners included Satyajeet Singh, Bimal Indu Sharma, Sawan Kumar, Jagbir Singh, Rubham Sharma, Amandeep Bhasan, Atul Singh, Aditya Sharma, Harshul Sharma, Nikhil Saroch, Kajol Chib and Sakshi Koul.
The silver medals went to Rahul Sawhney, Sawan Kumar, Harshul Sharma, Aditya Sharma, Ankush Sundan, Vikramdeep, Amita Devi, Kajol Chub and Juhi Gupta, while the bronze medals were bagged by Pankaj Chib, Akash Malhotra, Mahul Verma, Vickramjeet Singh, Shalinder Singh, Ruby Sharma, Simran Bumraa, and Suman Lata.
