J&K Police emerges overall Champion in Wrestling C’ship *Jammu tops in women category

JAMMU, Oct 30: Two-days long 27th Men and 13th Women Senior J&K Wrestling Championship-2021, organised by Wrestling Association of J&K in collaboration with University of Jammu, concluded at Wrestling Hall University of Jammu, here wherein J&K Police emerged overall Champion and Jammu district remained Champion in women category.
Purnima Sharma, JMC Deputy Mayor was the chief guest, whereas Pardeep Sharma, co-convener of BJP Sports Cell was guest of honour. They distributed medals to the winners.
The selected wrestlers of the championship will take part in the forthcoming Senior Men and Women Wrestling Championship 2021 which is scheduled to be held at Nandi Nagar Gonda (UP) from November 11 to 13.
In women category (50 kg), Radha Sharma and Komal Tagotra bagged gold and silver, while Priya Sharma and Madhu Devi shared bronze medal, whereas in 53 kg, Samriti, Swati Sharma and Bharti Rajput won top three medals respectively and in 57 kg, top three medals were clinched by Roohi Rajput, Priti Dogra and Nitika Sharma, besides in 65 kg, Riya Chib and Gulshan Bibi secured gold and silver while Vishali Devi & Monika Sharma won bronze medal, while in 72 kg, Sonakshi, Kusum Rani and Sonia Sharma bagged top three medals and in 76 kg, Suniti won gold and Mansi Dogra clinched silver medal.
In men’s style 57 kg, Ajit Malhotra & Anil Singh won top two medals, while Rahish Choudhary and Keshav Singh shared bronze medal, while in 61kg, Rohit Singh (JKP) & Vishal Singh clinched top two medals, while Kulvinder Singh & Abhishek Lahoria shared bronze medal and in 65 kg, Arif Khan (JKP) and Yaqoob Ali won gold and silver while Sunny Sharma (JKP ) & Subash Singh shared bronze medal, besides in 70 kg, gold and silver were won by Saleem and Gurdev Singh while Muneer Hussain and Mohit Singh jointly clinched bronze medal, whereas in 74 kg, Ashiq Hussain and Shamahoon (JKP) bagged top two medals while Vipan Saini and Anil Kumar shared bronze medal and in79 kg, Muneer Ahmed won gold and Mohd Hafeez (JKP) secured silver and Mohd Sadiq and Surjit Singh jointly won bronze medal.
In 86 kg, Arshad Ali won gold, Rajesh Kumar (JKP) clinched silver, while Mohd Saleem and Sahil Sharma shared bronze medal, whereas in 92 kg, Abdul Rashid and Nissar Ahmed (JKP) got gold and silver while Arun Sharma and Nadeem Ahmed shared bronze and in 97 kg, Biniya Min (JKP) won gold, Sanjay Kumar (JKP) won silver and Kanav Sharma clinched bronze, besides in 125 kg, Isaaq Ahmed (JKP), Mustafa Kamal and Amit Singh clinched top three medals respectively.
In men Greco Roman style 63 kg, Vicku Sharma (JKP) and Sumit Gangla bagged gold and silver, while in 67 kg, Sahil Dagoria (JKP), Sahil Sharma and Avinash Sharma won top three medals respectively and in 72 kg, Suryadev Singh (JKP), and Bhushan Mehra clinched gold and silver, besides in 82 kg, Ranjeet Singh (JKP) and Dilawar Singh won top two medals respectively, whereas in 87 kg, two top medals were clinched by Susheel Singh and Vireshwar Bhardwaj and in 97kg, Roshan Sharma and Javed Khan of JKP bagged top two medals, moreover in 130 kg, Daler Khan (JKP), Liyakat Ali and Shalinder Singh secured top three medals respectively.
Prominent persons including Vijay Pahalwan, Ajay Vaid, Dheeraj Sharma, Raju Sharma, Om Parkash, Swaran Lal, Raj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, Diler Khan, Mohd Mushtaq, Prem Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, Mohd Hussain, Zaheer Khan and Sahil Sharma were present on the occasion.
