J&K loses to Saurashtra, stands at bottom of points table

JAMMU, Oct 4: With just two points from the undecided match against Jharkhand on the other day, Jammu and Kashmir stood at the bottom of the points table after the completion of the league phase as Saurashtra drubbed J&K by 22 runs in Round V Elite Group-E match of the Under-19 Boys Mankad Trophy at SS Cricket Commune, Indore today
This is probably J&K’s worst ever performance from last 10 seasons in this tournament.
In the five matches played this season, J&K lost to Vidarbha, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Saurashtra, while J&K versus Jharkhand tie remained undecided.
In Round V match today, winning the toss and batting first, Saurashtra scored a good total of 210 runs in 30 overs as wet outfield had forced the umpires to reduce the number of overs. Ansh Gosai top scored with power-packed 93 runs off just 58 balls. He sent the J&K bowlers on a leather-hunt his innings which was amalgam of elegance sublimity and brilliance. Harshvardhan contributed 37 off 40 balls, while Yasvardhan Gaur and Ramdev scored 28 and 22 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Ranjot Singh was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets by conceding 46 runs in his 6 overs, while Basit Bashir bagged 2 wickets and Prabhjot though expensive claimed 1 wicket in his 3 overs, giving away 27 runs.
In reply, J&K managed to score 188 runs in 28.5 overs, thus lost the match by 22 runs. In form, Arya Suvansh Thakur scored magnificent 57 runs off 45 balls, while debutant wicket-keeper batsman Rydham scored brilliant 46 runs off 34 balls. Ranjot Singh and Dhruv Singh Parmar contributed 21 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For Saurashtra, medium pacer, Aum Kanabar was pick of the bowlers who took 3 wickets, while Abhishek Nimavat and skipper Chudasama bagged 2 wickets each, while Kalp Shah, Yashvendra and Raxit Mehta shared 1 wicket apiece.
There were very few performers from J&K in this tournament. Arya Suvansh Thakur slammed 2 fifties and 45 in this tournament, while Ranjot Singh performed brilliantly with both bat and ball and Yasir Rasheed had a 4-wicket haul. Most of the players were there just to fit the bill.
