SRINAGAR, May 2: The J&K Hussaini Sports Club organized its 9th Annual Road Race. The theme of the race was ‘Run against Social Evils’.
The race started from Nigeen and culminated at Islamia College Hawal via Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta and Gojwara. The race was flagged off by Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash. Over 850 students from different schools participated in the road race.
In boys category, Manzoor Ahmad, Scholars School Harwan, Hyder, Burn Hall School, Sonwar and Shaiq of Scholars School, Harwan were adjudged first, 2nd and third respectively.
In girls category, Hafsa, Kashmir Havard Habak secured first place while, Sadia, Kashmir Harvard Habak claimed Second and Tabinda, Model High School, Jawahar Nagar clinch third position in the road race.
Minister of Education, Naeem Akhter was the chief guest on the valedictory function, distributing prizes among the position holders saying that there should be more sports clubs in the Kashmir valley to boost sports activities.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Principal, Islamia College, Physical Director, Islamia College and Manager Indoor Stadium were present on the occasion.
The race was sponsored by TCI Max, Hotel Grand Mumtaz, Pure Max, Car Bazar Motors and J&K Hoteliers Club. J&K Police, Health Department, Red Cross Society, SMC and CMO facilitated the road race.
