JAMMU, Jan 8: J&K Forest XI smashed new entrant Lone Star Kashmir Football Club (KFC) by two goals to zero and lifted the title trophy of the XXIII State Football Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College football ground.
Before the start of the final match, hundreds of spectators including sports lovers were seen approaching the ground to cheer up for their favourite teams.
As expected it was a hard, tough and high voltage match of the Championship and this Season also as on one side, there was team, which entered the football game recently and on the other hand, the team was fully experienced.
The players of new entrant Lone Star KFC were looking passionate and energetic as they were to face the senior and experienced J&K Forest XI team in the summit clash.
In the first half of the match, the Lone Star KFC players played a disciplined game and surprised the spectators by restricting the opponents J&K Forest XI team to score any goal.
Being senior and experienced, J&K Forest XI team-mates appreciated the efforts of the new entrant Lone Star KFC players to boost their morale, which reflected true sportsmanship among the players on the grounds.
The efforts of the Lone Star KFC were also highly appreciated by the spectators including sports lovers by thundering applause and whistles.
In the 2nd half, players of J&K Forest XI entered the arena fully refreshed and started raiding the goal side of Lone Star KFC.
For sometime, the players of Lone Star KFC kept on defending the raids of the J&K Forest XI players, but in one of the raids in 60th minute, Lone Star KFC players received a blow from Ubaid of J&K Forest XI as he successfully converted the raid into a goal.
The first goal of the match by J&K Forest XI side added more strength to its players and they doubled their lead through Asrar in 70th minute, which brought the players of Lone Star KFC under pressure.
Lone Star Kashmir Football Club strived hard, but their forwards could not succeed to score even a single goal till the final whistle by the umpire which paved way for J&K Forest XI to win the match by 2-0 goals and lift the coveted trophy of the Championship.
On the valedictory function, Suresh Chug, Chairman Pollution Control Board presented the coveted trophy to the captain of the J&K Forest XI in presence of Director Environment and Remote Sensing, who presided over the function. Trophies and prizes were also awarded to the players of the winning team and referees.
