J&K drubs MP in inaugural tie

20th Junior National Korfball Championship gets underway

SRINAGAR, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir thrashed Madhya Pradesh by eleven goals to one (11-1) in the inaugural match of the 20th Junior National Korfball Championship, which got underway at Bakshi Stadium, here today.

The Championship in which 20 states drawn from all over the country are participating, was declared open by Director Youth Services and Sports S Jaipal Singh in an impressive and well attended opening ceremony. The participating states included Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, MP, Gujarat, Daman and Maghalaya.

Earlier, in the inaugural match, J&K drubbed MP by (11-1) in an easy contest.The half time score was 6-0 in favour of the winners. For J&K, Anshu scored maximum 3 goals, while Harish and Divanshu scored 2 goals each. Jugal, Tamana, Mohit and Muskan scored one goal each.
