JAMMU, Dec 12: Jammu and Kashmir thrashed Bihar by eight goals to nil in the ongoing 65th All India Police Hockey Championship, being held at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
Jammu and Kashmir players dominated the game from the word go and succeeded in scoring their first goal through Satwant Singh early in the 14th minute of the match. Satwant scored the second goal also in 18th minute, which was followed by another goal in 20th minute by Sikinder Pal Singh to help J&K lead the first half by three goals to nil (3-0).
J&K players continued their display of skills and managed to score back to back goals in 36th and 38th minutes through Surinder Singh to make it (5-0) in their favour. Then the goals by Jaspreet Singh, Manjeet Singh and Sumit Pal Singh in 53rd, 54th and 65th minutes helped Jammu and Kashmir to blank the opponents by (8-0).
In other matches played today, Punjab defeated Maharashtra by (3-1), Haryana got better of Maharashtra by (5-2), CRPF crushed Chhattisgarh by (16-0), Uttrakhand prevailed over Jharkhand by (4-2), Tamil Nadu beat CISF by (2-1), ITBP blanked RPF by (12-0), Telangana outclassed Chandigarh by (3-2) and Andhra Pradesh drubbed Karnataka by (6-5).
The chief guests in various matches held today included VK Singh, ADGP HQs; L. Mohanti, ADGP Armed; SSPs Anil Kumar Katoch, Mohan Lal, Roop Raj Bhagat, DK Salathia, Anita Sharma, Nisha Nathyal and Rashmi Wazir, besides SPs Sandeep Kumar Mehta and Prabu Dayal.
The matches were officiated by Rajinder Kharab, Feroz Mohd Khan, VP Sharma, Vijay Kishore, Amar Singh Negi, Deepak Kumar, Sham Lal, Gurmeet Singh, Jai Bhagwan, Joginder Singh, Dilbar Sandhu, Anand Dangi, Raj Kumar Jha, Malkiat Singh, Vinay Panchal, Tarun Yadav, Bhanu Aggarwal, MS Reen, and Jagjeet Singh.
