J&K boys beat Odisha in Mini National Volleyball Championship

JAMMU, May 27: On the opening day of 23rd Mini National Volleyball Champion-ship, J&K Boys team defeated Odisha by 3-0 sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-15) at Erode in Tamil Nadu.
The Mini National Championship organized by Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association was declared open in a colourful ceremony today.
In all, 19 teams in boys section from different States of India are participating in the Championship. J&K team is placed in ‘Pool B’ and will play next matches against Pudducherry, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
In the opening match against Odisha, J&K team players namely Syeed Anwar from Kulgam and Imtiyaz Javed from Poonch displayed their magnificent skills and dominated the proceedings to achieve easy victory. The team is being accompanied by coach, Mohd Tariq.
In girls section, J&K team lost to Uttar Pradesh by 3-0 sets (15-25, 12-25 and 15-25).
In all, 18 girls team from different States of India are participating in the Championship and J&K girls team is placed in ‘Pool C’ and will play next matches against Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
Balwinder Singh Jamwal and Neelam Sharma are accompanying the girls team as coach and manager respectively.
