J&K Blind & Deaf Judo team shines in 9th Judo C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 24: J&K Blind and Deaf Judo team excelled in 9th Blind and Deaf Judo Championship by winning overall trophy, held at KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow from March 18 to 22.
J&K Deaf Senior Judo team both men and women clinched overall trophy by winning five Gold medals including three Gold medals secured by men team while two Gold medals won by women team.
Rakshinda Mehak was declared as Best Judoka in senior women group, whereas Blind Judo team of J&K won one Silver medal and two Bronze medals.
In senior deaf men category, Vishal Khajuria clinched Gold medal in below 66 kg, while Nabeel Ahmed Dar secured Gold medal in below 73 kg and in below 90 kg, Gulshan Kumar also won Gold medal, whereas in senior deaf women, Shikha Kumari won Gold medal in below 52 kg, while Rakshinda Mehak clinched Gold in plus 78 kg category and in blind junior boys category, Mohd Ajam won Silver in below 55 kg, Wasim Akram bagged Bronze medal in below 60 kg besides in senior blind men category, Bronze medal was secured by Sadam Hussain in below 81 kg category.
The team was accompanied by Deepika and Manish Chatwal, Manager.
Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul congratulated all the medal winners along with their coaches Suraj Bhan Singh and Ritika Slathia.
