J&K Bank drubs JKPDC to lift Christmas Gold Cup

JAMMU, Jan 18: J&K Bank clinched the Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament on by beating JKPDC in penalty shootouts at GGM Science College, here today.
Both teams displayed their skills to the toughest but a brilliant goal keeping by Nirdosh during the penalties sealed the victory for his team.
Mid-fielder Rohit Kumar and defender Waseem showed some terrific skills to keep the match alive for JK Bank against the attacking rivals.
The Tournament was organized by All J&K Christian Welfare Association, under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA). A total of 27 teams participated in this tournament.
BJP State Vice-President, Yudhvir Sethi was the chief guest on the occasion, while Vice President and Zonal Head Jammu Sunil Gupta was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi called for more participation of younger generation in sporting activity to lead a healthier and a disciplined life. He said that India is a young nation and sports play a decisive role in channelizing the youth towards a progressive direction.
Yudhvir  appreciated the organizers for paving a platform for local players to display their talent.
He also interacted with the players and wished them a great success.
Dignitaries presented the trophies to the winners and the runners up teams where as J&K Forest Department team awarded with the fair play award.
Players of JK Bank team dedicated their victory to their coach and other support staff.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were President, JKFA, Zameer Thakur, President JDFA, Sheikh Mehmood , President, DFA, Kashmir,  Fayaz Sofi, Conservator of Forest, Samuel, President, All J&K Christian Welfare Association, SM Gill, Vice President JKFA Jammu Zone Surinder Singh Bunty, Gen Secretary JKFA, Feastus Sotra , Organising Secretary David Masih, Yusuf Don besides senior functionaries of Football association along with various sports personalities.
Meanwhile, congratulating the Bank team for its spectacular win despite absence of seniors who are away for the Santosh Trophy, Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed said:”The news of your achievement has come as a great delight to all of us in the JK Bank Family. All your hard work, commitment and practice has paid off. The composure and patience you have displayed during the closely fought final have bearings of the values of the JK Bank as an institution.”
The victory he added was special as the players got little time for practice being involved in the routine banking operations post demonetization when the bank deployed all its human resources for providing hassle free service to the people of the state.
