Jiyaad’s ton, Govind’s 4 wkts guide J&K to emphatic win over Kerala

JAMMU, Oct 11: Promising opening batsman, Jiyaad Nazir Magray hit a magnificent century (101), while leg-spinner Govind Sharma took 4 important wickets as Jammu and Kashmir defeated Kerala by 36 runs in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 225 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. Jiyaad Nazir top scored with 101 runs off 134 balls, studded with 9 fours and 1 six, while Abdul Samad and Raghav Sharma contributed 46 and 40 runs to the total respectively. Samad hit 8 boundaries in his knock, while Raghav smashed 3 fours and 1 six in his innings. From Kerala, Nakson Rahul captured 4 wickets, while Adithya Krishanan claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Kerala managed to score 189 runs in 46.2 overs, this lost the match by 36 runs. Aadidev TJ top scored with 44 runs, while skipper Vathsal and Ananthakrishnan contributed 42 runs each. Govind Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for J&K, who took 4 wickets by conceding 40 runs in his 10 overs, while left-arm spinners, Javaid Ahmad and Taizeem Younis Tak claimed 2 wickets each by conceding 28 and 47 runs in 10 and 8.2 overs respectively. Medium pacer Junaid Farooq also picked one wicket.
