JAMMU, Dec 10: Registering a convincing win over Anil Dutta in the summit clash, Jayesh lifted the men’s singles title, while Chandpreet got better of Szhar Sharma in the women’s singles final to claim title in the ongoing Jammu District table Tennis Championship, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Jayesh defeated Anil by (11-04, 07-11, 11-07, 11-05) in an easy contest to claim trophy, while Chandpreet toppled Szhar by (13-11, 11-09, 11-08) to win the women’s singles event.
Meanwhile, in veteran’s singles, Ashwani Sharma defeated Mahesh Sharma in a tough contest (3-2) by (11-09, 11-09, 08-11, 08-11, 11-9). Earlier, in Cadet boys singles final, Ninnad drubbed Hanumant by three straight sets (11-08, 11-09, 11-08), while in Cadet girls singles final, Bhabya Rakwal trounced Yatiksha Tandon by (11-06, 07-11, 11-09, 11-08).
In sub junior boys singles, Divyam Pandhoh won the title, defeating Ritvik Gupta by (11-09, 11-06, 09-11, 09-11, 11-09), while sub junior girls title went to Jahnavi Pandhoh, who drubbed Shreya by (11-06, 07-11, 11-09, 11-08) in the title clash.
In junior boys singles final, Sunpreet Singh prevailed upon Divyam Pandhoh by (11-09, 11-09, 11-09), while in junior girls singles, Jahnavi Pandhoh thrashed Shreya by (11-08, 08-11, 11-09, 11-07) in the final to win the trophy.
The youth boys singles title also went to Jayesh, who drubbed Divyam Pandhoh by (11-03, 11-05, 11-09).
MLC Vijay Bakaya was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up players, while VK Magoo, working president, J&K Table Tennis Association presided over the function.
Meanwhile, the chief guest announced Rs 5,00,000 from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for promotion of the game of Table Tennis in the State.
The matches were officiated by Satish Gupta, Narinder Singh, Meenu and Manmeet Kour.
