JAMMU, Mar 7: Brilliant knock of unbeaten 63 runs by Jatin Wadhawan, coupled with superb bowling display by Sourav Chopra and skipper Kuldeep Kumar, besides all-round show by Satish Kumar helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Srinagar to beat Shastri Cricket Club by 7 wickets and become first team to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing Salute & Tribute to Siachen Martyrs T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Cricket Association at Parade ground, here.
Eaelier, batting first, SCC managed to score a fighting total of 120 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, after struggling at 77 for the loss of 9 wickets in 16 overs at one point of time. It was batsman number 10, Akash Manhas who scored quick-fire unbeaten 33 runs off just 16 balls, studded with 2 sixes and 2 fours to take his side total respectable total. He was given company by number 11 batsman Vishal Rana, who contributed unbeaten 9 runs to the total. Earlier, Arvind scored valuable 21 runs, while Varun and Chander Pandita chipped in with 9 and 8 runs respectively. Amit Sharma also scored 9 runs. For RCC Srinagar, speedster Sourav Chopra was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 22 runs in his 4 overs, while left-arm spinner, Kuldeep Kumar bagged 2 wickets by giving away 24 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Another left-arm spinner, Dilbagh Singh was the most economical bowler, who bowled 4 overs and gave away just 16 runs and took one wicket, while speedster Akash Choudhary and all-round Satish Kumar also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, RCC chased the target easily in 15.1 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Jatin Wadhawan played a brilliant innings of 63 runs of 45 balls, studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Satish Kumar made valuable 36 runs off 33 balls with the help of 5 fours and one six. Openers Puneet Wattal (5) and Ateev Saini (00) went cheaply, though Puneet began the innings with a cracking cover drive. For SCC, Varun took 2 wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 3 overs, while Arvind claimed one.
